Redcliff Quay, Bristol
For Standard Life Assurance Company
This development, on an important Conservation Area site on
Bristol's Floating Harbour, creates a public piazza and a vista
through to the tower of St Thomas's Church. The building re-interprets
the spirit of the adjacent warehouse architecture in its overall
form, its articulation into a series of linked pavilions, and
in the extensive use of balconies which refer to warehouse loading
platforms and provides excellent views. A combination of contrasting
stonework and brickwork enriches the elevations, further enlivened
by the metalwork of balconies and sun shading.
