Broad Quay, Bristol
For Crosby Homes (Special Projects)
In 2004 Alec French designed this mixed use scheme for a prominent site in the Bristol
City Centre Conservation Area, currently vacant and including
an 18 storey 1960’s office tower. The site is very well
served by public transport and provided an important opportunity
for high density mixed use development.
The proposed redevelopment included 146 apartments, over approximately
3,000sq.metres of offices, in turn over 2,500 sq.metres of shops and restaurants.
The new residential tower was designed to be a prominent contemporary
marker of the city centre.
The proposals were strongly supported by the CABE Design
Review Panel but is not proceeding.
