St Anne's College, Oxford
For The Governing Body
The College accepted our recommendations to site the new building
to complete the fourth side of a formal quad whilst retaining
the dominance of the Victorian gardens to the South. The Client's
brief called for a building of long life that would appear "mature"
from its first days of occupation. This influenced the choice
of materials with the use of hand made brick, natural stone
elements and oak joinery.
The residential accommodation is planned around staircase access
and reflects its orientation.
The 150 seat auditorium is designed to be suitable for both
lectures and chamber music and incorporates special audio visual
facilities.
