King Edward's Junior School, Bath
For The Governors
This 200 pupil Junior School sits on a steeply sloping, south
facing site overlooking Bath. A central, top lit library forms
the focus, with the upper and lower classrooms directly related
to it.
The RIBA Awards jury commented: "An excellent and inspiring
example of architecture….. We particularly liked the quality
of thought which the architect has brought to the organisation
of the school and the way it appropriately and sympathetically
occupies and exploits its site. We wish that all children could
receive the opportunity to commence their education in a school
as well designed and built as this one."
